ICT Mumbai to launch 2-year MBA program focusing on Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Venture Development

Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, is set to break new ground by introducing a two-year Master of Business Administration (MBA) course in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Venture Development (IEV) starting from the academic year 2024-25. This marks a significant departure from ICT’s traditional focus on engineering programs.

Engineering and technology graduates who have successfully cleared the Maharashtra MBA/MMS common entrance test (CET) will be eligible for admission to this pioneering program. The course aims to nurture a new generation of entrepreneurs and innovators, offering students a unique opportunity to explore their talents and pursue entrepreneurial ventures.

Professor Aniruddha Pandit, Vice-Chancellor of ICT, emphasized the distinctive nature of the course, stating, “We don’t want to go by the conventional way of the management course; this course will be unique and give an opportunity to students to become entrepreneurs.” The curriculum includes an immersive experience where students will work in villages and other locations to develop their entrepreneurial skills.

The course has received approval from the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), with the first batch limited to 18 students. Faculty members from prestigious institutions like Jamnalal Bajaj Institute Management Studies (JBIMS) and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) will be actively involved in the educational activities. Additionally, successful alumni entrepreneurs will be invited as guest faculty to share their experiences with the students.

ICT’s foray into the realm of business education signifies a bold step towards fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among future business leaders. This initiative is poised to redefine the landscape of management education in India and empower students to drive meaningful change through their entrepreneurial endeavors.
