Iga Świątek made history on Saturday by winning her third consecutive French Open women’s singles title, defeating Jasmine Paolini in a dominant fashion with a score of 6-2, 6-1. The 23-year-old Polish player extended her winning streak at Roland Garros to 21 matches and secured her fifth Grand Slam victory.

Paolini, 28, struggled to keep up with Świątek’s pace and precision on the court, committing 15 unforced errors throughout the match. Despite taking an early lead in the first set, Paolini couldn’t maintain her momentum as Świątek rallied back to win 11 out of the final 12 games.

As the No. 1 ranked player in the world, Świątek now holds the prestigious title of three-time defending French Open singles champion. She joins the ranks of tennis legends like Monica Seles and Justine Henin as one of the few women in the Open Era to achieve a three-peat at Roland Garros.

With this victory, Świątek also becomes one of the youngest players to win the French Open four times, joining the likes of Henin, Steffi Graf, and Chris Evert. Her remarkable performance on the clay courts solidifies her status as one of the top players in women’s tennis today.
