The Madrid Open is in full swing, with world No 1 Iga Swiatek and Daniil Medvedev both set to take the court on Thursday. The tournament, which is being broadcast live on Sky Sports, has already seen some exciting matches and upsets.

In the women’s competition, Swiatek will be facing off against Madison Keys, while Elena Rybakina will be playing against either Aryna Sabalenka or 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva. The action is set to be intense, with the final of the women’s singles taking place on Saturday.

On the men’s side, Felix Auger-Aliassime received a walkover to the semi-finals, while Medvedev is set to play against Jiri Lehecka. The tournament has already seen some surprising results, with Rafael Nadal’s conqueror Jiri Lehecka causing a major upset by defeating the defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.

The Madrid Open is being held at the iconic Caja Magica (Magic Box) at the Manzanares Park Tennis Centre, which has been the home of the tournament since 2009. With three courts all equipped with retractable roofs, the venue has a total capacity of over 17,000 seats.

In addition to the exciting matches, the tournament is also trialling some innovative changes this year, including more Singles vs Doubles action and a reduced shot clock to accelerate the pace of play.
