IHG Hotels & Resorts Celebrates Luxury and Lifestyle Growth in Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean

ATLANTA, May 30, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — IHG Hotels & Resorts, a leading hotel company, is marking a significant milestone in its luxury and lifestyle portfolio expansion in Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean (MLAC). With five new openings in 2024 and 32 properties in the pipeline, IHG is set to double its presence in the luxury and lifestyle segment in the region.

Leanne Harwood, SVP, Managing Director for Luxury & Lifestyle Americas at IHG Hotels & Resorts, expressed excitement about the brand’s growth in the region. She highlighted the demand for IHG’s brands, including Six Senses, InterContinental, Kimpton, Hotel Indigo, and Vignette Collection, which offer unique and distinct experiences for travelers.

Six Senses, known for its wellness and sustainability offerings, recently opened Six Senses La Sagesse in Grenada. The resort provides guests with a chance to connect with Grenada’s heritage through farm-to-table cooking, spa treatments using local spices, and culinary experiences featuring fresh produce from the island. Six Senses is also planning to open Six Senses Grand Bahama and Six Senses Xala by 2026.

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, the world’s first luxury hotel brand, has a strong presence in MLAC with 20 properties. The brand recently opened InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Nature Spa and is gearing up for the launch of InterContinental Presidente Monterrey in Mexico. The upcoming InterContinental Grenada Resort is expected to open in 2025.

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, known for its design-forward hotels, has been expanding in the region with properties like Kimpton Grand Roatán Resort & Spa, Kimpton Virgilio in Mexico City, and Kimpton Mas Olas Resort & Spa in Todos Santos. The brand is set to open Kimpton Las Mercedes in Santo Domingo and Kimpton Tres Ríos Riviera Maya, an all-inclusive beachfront resort.

Vignette Collection, IHG’s newest luxury brand, will debut El Gran Encomendero in Valladolid, Mexico, in 2025. The property will offer unique stays in a historic town known for its cultural heritage and international appeal.

Hotel Indigo, known as “The World’s Neighborhood Hotel,” recently opened Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman on Seven Mile Beach. The brand also launched Hotel Indigo La Paz Puerta Cortés in Mexico and is preparing for the opening of Hotel Indigo Tijuana later this year.

IHG’s strategic focus on luxury and lifestyle in the region is further highlighted by three milestone signings in Turks & Caicos for InterContinental, Kimpton, and Hotel Indigo. These resorts, set to open by 2027, will mark IHG’s debut on the picturesque Caribbean island of Grace Bay.
