Improving Water Quality in Hyde Park Community Garden

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Jocelyn Martinez, the founder of SoulSmile Health & Wellness, has announced an exciting new development for the Westside Hyde Park community – the planting of a community garden. Located at 2101 W. 20th St., this garden is set to provide fresh, locally grown produce for the neighborhood.

“We are hoping and excited for an abundance of fresh, local grown produce which will be available for the community. Keep posted in the upcoming months to hear more about our garden and how the garden will be available for picking,” Martinez shared.

The initiative aims to promote healthy eating habits and provide access to nutritious food options for residents in the area. The community garden is expected to be a hub for learning about gardening and sustainability, fostering a sense of community among neighbors.

In other news, the Pueblo Board of Water Works has released its annual Water Quality Report for the 2023 calendar year. The report contains essential information about Pueblo Water’s system and treatment operations, along with water quality testing results. Residents can view the report online or request printed copies by contacting Pueblo Water.

Additionally, the Pueblo Library District has received a $250,000 grant from the Mellon Foundation for a digital archiving project. This project aims to preserve the history and culture of communities in southeastern Colorado through Regional Memory Labs. Residents will have the opportunity to digitally preserve old photos, documents, and more at these labs, which will be shared with partnering organizations in 16 counties.

Overall, these initiatives highlight the community’s commitment to health, sustainability, and preserving local history for future generations.
