Imran Khan expresses regret for trusting former Pakistan army chief Gen Bajwa, says it was his only mistake | World News

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently serving time in Adiala Jail, has made shocking revelations about his time in office, specifically pointing fingers at retired General Qamar Javed Bajwa. Khan accused the former army chief of orchestrating a campaign against him to secure a second extension as the military head.

In an interview with journalist Mehdi Hasan for Zeteo, Khan expressed his regret for trusting Gen Bajwa, blaming him for his downfall and imprisonment. Khan alleged that Bajwa spread false narratives about him to both national and international audiences, tarnishing his image and creating chaos to further his own agenda.

The former cricketer-turned-politician also criticized Bajwa for his lack of understanding of the impact of his actions on democracy and Pakistan as a whole. Khan revealed that he had approved an extension for Bajwa in 2019, but later admitted that it was a mistake.

Khan’s accusations against Bajwa have sparked controversy, with Khan firmly placing the blame on the former army chief for his ouster from power. Despite his imprisonment, Khan remains steadfast in his fight for justice and democracy in Pakistan.

The ruling coalition has invited Khan’s party to engage in dialogue with the government, but Khan maintains that the current government lacks legitimacy. With nearly 200 cases against him since his ouster, Khan continues to be a polarizing figure in Pakistani politics.
