India remains at the top in ODI and T20I rankings, while Australia regains the top spot in Test rankings

India has retained its top position in ODIs and T20Is but slipped to the second position in the men’s Test Team Rankings in the latest ICC annual ranking update issued on Friday. The annual update drops results from the 2020-21 season and reflects all series completed since May 2021.

India conceded the top spot in the Test rankings to Australia, the reigning World Test champion, by just four points. Despite slipping to second place, India remains a strong contender in the Test format.

The rankings update also saw South Africa move up to the fourth position, with 103 points, joining India, Australia, and England above the 100-point mark. The order of teams ranked from third to ninth remains the same, with Afghanistan and Ireland not yet playing sufficient Tests to be ranked.

In the ODI and T20I rankings, India continues to dominate, holding the top spot in both formats. Despite losing the ODI World Cup final to Australia, India has increased its lead over them by six points. South Africa has closed the gap with Australia in the ODI rankings, while Sri Lanka is just two points behind England.

In the T20I rankings, Australia has moved ahead of England to second place, but India remains the clear leader with 264 rating points. South Africa has leapfrogged two places to third, closely followed by New Zealand and West Indies.
