India Retain Top Position in ICC Rankings as T20 World Cup 2024 Approaches

India, the inaugural T20 World Cup winners, are currently leading the men’s T20I team rankings as they gear up for the upcoming edition of the tournament. With 264 rating points, India is setting the pace for the rest of the teams. The West Indies, two-time champions of the T20 World Cup, have climbed to the fourth position in the rankings, showcasing strong form ahead of the tournament co-hosted by the West Indies and USA from June 1-29.

Australia, the 2021 champions, are in second place with 257 points, followed by defending champions England in third place with 254 points. The West Indies are just two points behind England, sitting comfortably in fourth place with 252 points. New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa are closely trailing behind in the rankings.

The West Indies players have been in exceptional form, with several individuals making significant jumps in the rankings. Opening batter Brandon King has moved up to eighth position, while Johnson Charles and Kyle Mayers have also climbed the ranks. Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie has made a remarkable jump of 84 places to reach 27th position in the bowling rankings.

In the latest update, England captain Jos Buttler and Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman have also seen improvements in their rankings. Shaheen Afridi and Imad Wasim from Pakistan have made gains in the bowling rankings as well.
