Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has opened up about his underwhelming performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, admitting that he did not meet the batting standards expected of him. Despite his struggles, Rohit remains focused on improving his game and ironing out his flaws.

Rohit, who was replaced as MI’s captain by Hardik Pandya for the 2024 season, ended his tournament with a brilliant 38-ball 68. Throughout the season, he scored 417 runs in 14 innings at an average of 32.08 and a strike rate of 150, including a century and a fifty.

Speaking to JioCinema, Rohit acknowledged his shortcomings, saying, “As a batter, I know I didn’t live up to the standard. But, after playing for all these years, I know that if I overthink, I won’t play well. All I try is to stay in a good mindset, in the right zone, keep practicing, and improve on all the flaws in my game. That’s all I kept doing.”

MI had a disappointing season, finishing at the bottom of the points table after a loss to Lucknow Super Giants. Rohit took responsibility for the team’s poor performance, admitting that they made too many mistakes throughout the season.

Looking ahead, Rohit is set to lead India in the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA. He revealed that the majority of the squad was decided before the IPL began, with players given clarity on their roles and expectations.
