Reading Time: 2 minutes

India is all set to make a mark at the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival by hosting the prestigious Bharat Parv. This special event will bring together eminent dignitaries and delegates from around the world to showcase the myriad creative opportunities that India has to offer.

A delegation consisting of representatives from central and state governments, as well as members of the industry, will be present at the festival to highlight India’s creative economy through a series of significant initiatives. This will be the first time that India will host a Bharat Parv at the Cannes Film Festival, providing a platform to engage with film celebrities, filmmakers, directors, producers, buyers, and sales agents from across the globe.

The Bharat Pavilion at the festival will serve as a platform for the Indian film community to engage in various activities, including fostering production collaborations, signing distribution deals, and networking with prominent entertainment and media players. The Pavilion has been designed by the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, and will showcase several Indian movies and productions.

Notable Indian titles that will be showcased at the festival include filmmaker Payal Kapadia’s “All We Imagine As Light,” which will vie for the prestigious Palme d’Or, and British-Indian filmmaker Sandhya Suri’s “Santosh.” Additionally, Shyam Benegal’s classic film “Manthan,” focusing on the Amul dairy cooperative movement, will be presented in the Classics section, adding a touch of historical significance to the festival’s lineup.

The 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival is set to open on May 14 and will conclude on May 25, providing a platform for filmmakers to engage with the dynamic Indian film industry and international partners. This event promises to be a celebration of India’s rich creative talent and diverse locations, showcasing the country as a premier filming destination on the global stage.
