Indian men’s and women’s 4x400m relay teams clinch silver medals at Asian Relay Championships

India’s men’s and women’s 4x400m relay teams put up a valiant effort at the Asian Relay Championships in Bangkok, finishing second in both categories despite fielding under-strength squads. The women’s team, consisting of Vithya Ramraj, M R Poovamma, Prachi Choudhary, and Rupal Chaudhary, clocked a time of 3:33.55, coming in behind Vietnam who finished with a time of 3:30.81. The men’s team, comprised of Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Santosh Kumar, Mijo Chacko Kurian, and Arokia Rajiv, finished with a time of 3:05.76, securing the second spot behind Sri Lanka.

Despite not having their strongest lineups, both Indian teams put up a commendable performance, showcasing their talent and determination on the track. The women’s team, missing key members from their Paris Olympics qualifying squad, fought hard to secure a podium finish. Similarly, the men’s team, with a different lineup from their qualifying race, gave their all but fell short of the top spot.

The mixed 4x400m relay team also made headlines, setting a national record but narrowly missing out on the Paris Olympics qualification bracket. The quartet of Muhammed Ajmal, Jyothika Sri Dandi, Amoj Jacob, and Subha Venkatesan clocked an impressive time of 3:14.12, showcasing their potential on the international stage.
