Indian student entrepreneurs engage in Boston Immersion program

Nine teams of student entrepreneurs from India recently had the opportunity to participate in the Boston Immersion program at Northeastern University in the US. These teams were selected as finalists in the SmartIDEAthon, a national idea-pitching competition organized by Venture Development Centre at GITAM in collaboration with Startup India, Northeastern University’s Center for Entrepreneurship Education, and Center for Emerging Markets.

During their visit, the student entrepreneurs gained valuable insights into Boston’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem through workshops focused on refining business models, perfecting pitches, and networking with industry professionals. The program aimed to broaden their perspectives on building ventures and becoming future entrepreneurs.

One of the highlights of the program was the Pitch-a-thon 2024, where Team Newrup Solutions, winners of SmartIDEAthon 2023, showcased their entrepreneurial vision alongside students from prestigious institutions like Northeastern, Harvard, and MIT. Anup Paikaray, the winner of SmartIDEAthon 2023, expressed his gratitude for the learning experience and the opportunity to represent India in the pitch competition.

This initiative reflects GITAM’s commitment to innovation and empowering students to make meaningful contributions to society. By breaking boundaries and creating pathways for global education, GITAM and its partner universities are preparing students to positively impact the world in their chosen careers. The Boston Immersion program provided a unique experiential learning opportunity for student entrepreneurs from India to enhance their startup fundamentals and connect with the global entrepreneurship ecosystem.
