A shocking incident unfolded at a bus stop in north-west London last week, as a 66-year-old Indian-origin woman, Anita Mukhey, was fatally stabbed in the chest and neck while waiting for a bus. The alleged perpetrator, 22-year-old Jalal Debella, has been charged with her murder and remanded in custody following a hearing at the Old Bailey Court in London.

Anita Mukhey, a part-time medical secretary for the National Health Service (NHS), was described as a devoted mother and grandmother by her family. The tragic incident occurred at the Burnt Oak Broadway bus stop in the Edgware area of London, sending shockwaves across the community.

According to reports, members of the public witnessed the daylight attack and screamed at the suspect to stop. Despite the efforts of emergency services, Mukhey succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) revealed that the preliminary cause of death was sharp force injuries to the front of the chest and neck. Debella is set to enter his plea of guilty or not guilty at the next hearing scheduled for August.

The tragic loss of Anita Mukhey has left her family devastated, and they have requested privacy during this difficult time. The community is reeling from the senseless act of violence that took the life of a beloved member.
