Indians Compete for State Tennis Title on Saturday – The Donalsonville News

The Seminole County Middle High School boys’ tennis team is making waves as they head back to the Georgia High School Association Class A State Championship finals for the third time in six years. The Indians are set to take on Aquinas High School, the #1 seed from Region 8, in Rome, Georgia on Saturday, May 11 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College.

In a thrilling semifinal matchup last Friday, the boys hosted Lake Oconee Academy, the last three state champions of Class A tennis. Despite previous defeats at the hands of Lake Oconee Academy in the past two years, the SCMHS boys came out on top this time around, securing a 3-0 victory with impressive performances from Bryson Grantham, Landon Kirkland, William Fain, and Ellis Denham.

Head Coach Tina Fain expressed her pride in the team’s playoff performance, highlighting the leadership of the seniors and their determination to win. Assistant Coach Jim Palmer emphasized the importance of fan support, urging Indian fans to make the trip to Rome to cheer on the team.

The Indians have had a successful postseason run, defeating Charlton County, Taylor County, and Lake Oconee Academy to secure their spot in the state championship finals. Facing mental and physical challenges along the way, each Indian player has risen to the occasion, showcasing their dedication and skill on the court.

As they prepare to face Aquinas High School in the championship match, the Seminole County Tennis Indians are ready to give it their all and bring home another state title. With a talented roster and dedicated coaching staff, the Indians are poised for success in the final showdown.
