MUIRHEAD, a Scottish Leather Group business, is set to revolutionize the air travel experience for neurodivergent individuals with its groundbreaking Sensation collection of aircraft seat covers. The innovative designs, which aim to create a more inclusive and positive journey for passengers with neurological or developmental disorders, will be showcased at a major aviation trade event in Hamburg.

The Renfrewshire-based company, known for its high-performance leather products, hopes to inspire designers in the aviation industry to prioritize accessibility and inclusivity in future aircraft cabin designs. The Sensation collection features natural materials in calming colors, special signage, and patterns specifically tailored to address common barriers faced by neurodivergent travelers.

Jamie O’Donnell, Designer at Muirhead, emphasized the importance of providing comfort and security to neurodivergent individuals during air travel. By working closely with Scottish disability consultancy Visible Inclusive Accessibility (VIA) and conducting extensive research, Muirhead ensured that the new seat covers cater to the unique needs of neurodivergent passengers.

Stephanie Wilson, founder of VIA, praised the collaboration with Muirhead and highlighted the significance of inclusive design in enhancing travel experiences for individuals with disabilities. The new collection’s monochromatic palette, advanced digital printing capabilities, and bespoke leather embosses aim to create a sensory-friendly environment for neurodivergent travelers.
