Cassie’s legal team is not buying Diddy’s recent apology regarding the leaked 2016 video showing him assaulting her. In a statement issued by one of Cassie’s attorneys, Meredith Firetog, she called Diddy a hypocrite and accused him of misleading the public. Firetog stated, “Combs’ most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt.”
The statement continued, “When Cassie and a number of other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday.” This references Diddy’s strong denial in December after being sued by another accuser post-Cassie.
Firetog further criticized Diddy’s apology, stating, “That he was only forced to ‘apologize’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words.”
Diddy’s apology video mentioned that he sought therapy and rehab to work on his personal issues. He expressed disgust with his past behavior and stated that he is working on becoming a better man every day. Diddy emphasized that he is not asking for forgiveness but genuinely sorry for his actions.
Despite settling the lawsuit with Cassie almost instantaneously, Diddy remains under federal investigation, which he has labeled as a witch hunt. Authorities in L.A. have confirmed that they will not be opening a case regarding the 2016 incident.
