Pitch, the indoor golf events company founded by PGA-trained duo Elliot Godfrey and Chris Ingham, is making waves in the industry with plans for international expansion. With the recent opening of their third and fourth venues in London, the founders sat down with GBN to discuss their journey and future plans.
The pair first met at a local golf club in Luton in 1998 and later pursued their PGA qualifications at the University of Birmingham. After gaining experience in coaching and playing abroad, they reunited to create Pitch, a unique indoor golf experience that combines technology, entertainment, and hospitality.
Their first venue opened in Bishopsgate in 2016, followed by a second site in Soho in 2022. Despite challenges posed by the pandemic, Pitch has continued to grow its membership base and attract a diverse audience of golf enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
The founders are now gearing up for the opening of a new venue in Canary Wharf, set to be their largest operation yet. With plans to expand to other UK cities like Brighton, Birmingham, and Manchester, as well as international locations in Ireland and Australia, Pitch is on track to become a global brand.
Pitch’s success can be attributed to its modern approach to golf, offering a premium experience in a non-traditional setting. With top-class equipment, music, food, and drink, Pitch has created a welcoming environment for golfers of all levels.
For beginners, Pitch offers starter packs and free lessons to break down barriers to entry. They have also launched a Women’s Beginner Academy in partnership with adidas, attracting hundreds of new female golfers to their venues.
With additional services like retail, event spaces, and live music nights, Pitch is not just a golf venue but a lifestyle destination. As they continue to evolve and expand, Pitch is set to redefine the golfing experience for a new generation of players.
