This groundbreaking move was announced on Wednesday, marking the first time a digital spokesperson will be delivering official statements on behalf of a government entity.
Victoria Shi, created by a team called the Game Changers, made her debut in a presentation posted on social media. The AI-generated figure not only speaks but also gestures with her hands and moves her head, giving a lifelike appearance to her communication.
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba hailed the introduction of Victoria Shi as a “technological leap” that sets Ukraine apart from other diplomatic services around the world. The main objective behind this innovation is to save time and resources for diplomats, allowing them to focus on more critical tasks.
It is important to note that the statements delivered by Victoria Shi are not generated by AI but are written and verified by real people. Her appearance and voice are modeled after a real person, Rosalie Nombre, a singer and former reality show contestant from Ukraine.
To ensure authenticity and combat misinformation, the foreign ministry will accompany Victoria Shi’s statements with QR codes linking to text versions on their website. This move aims to provide transparency and credibility to the information shared by the AI-generated spokesperson.
