Reading Time: < 1 minute

Ukraine has made history by introducing the world’s first AI diplomat, Victoria Shi. This AI-generated spokeswoman will be responsible for reading out official statements written by humans, marking a significant milestone in the realm of diplomacy.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ukraine unveiled Victoria Shi as its digital spokesperson, a move that showcases the increasing integration of Artificial Intelligence in various aspects of human life. Victoria Shi, dressed in a dark suit, introduces herself as a digital persona in a video shared on social media. She will be delivering pre-prepared official statements on behalf of the ministry, with her tone and voice modeled after Rosalie Nombre, a Ukrainian singer and TV celebrity who participated in the project free of charge.

To address concerns related to deepfake technology, the ministry has implemented measures to ensure the authenticity of Victoria Shi’s statements. Each statement will include a unique QR code linking to the official text version on the ministry’s website, providing transparency and accountability in the AI diplomat’s communication.

The creation of Victoria Shi by The Game Changers team, known for their work on content related to the war in Ukraine, aims to streamline diplomatic processes and save time and resources for diplomats. This innovative step by Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs sets a new standard in diplomatic communication, showcasing the potential of AI in enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in the field of diplomacy.
