IPL 2024 Achieves Milestone of 1000 Sixes, Setting New Record for Fastest in League History

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) reached a significant milestone as the 1000th six of the tournament was hit during the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

This achievement marked the third time in IPL history that over 1000 sixes have been hit in a single season, following 1062 sixes in 2022 and 1124 in 2023. The 2024 season achieved this feat in the fewest number of balls, with 13079 balls being bowled before the 1000th six was hit.

In the match, Lucknow Super Giants posted a total of 165/4 with Ayush Badoni playing a crucial role with an unbeaten fifty. Badoni, along with Nicholas Pooran, added 99 runs for the fifth wicket, propelling LSG to a competitive total on a slow pitch.

Despite a slow start in the Powerplay, Lucknow managed to recover thanks to the partnership between Pooran and Badoni. Badoni’s aggressive innings, which saw him reach his half-century off just 28 balls, was instrumental in setting up a challenging target for SRH.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the standout bowler for SRH, picking up 2 wickets for just 12 runs. The match showcased some exciting cricketing action and highlighted the power-hitting prowess of the players in the IPL 2024 season.
