IPL 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders inflict more pain on Delhi Capitals with a convincing seven-wicket victory

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a thrilling match at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders emerged victorious against Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. Phil Salt’s explosive half-century paved the way for KKR’s seven-wicket win, marking their sixth victory in the tournament.

Salt, who was let off on 15, showcased his clean hitting skills by smashing seven fours and five sixes in his brilliant 33-ball 68. His partnership with Sunil Narine, who also played a crucial role, put KKR in a commanding position. Despite losing a few quick wickets, the Iyers – Shreyas and Venkatesh – ensured victory for the home side.

On the bowling front, Varun Chakravarthy’s three-wicket haul restricted DC to 153 runs. Mitchell Starc and Vaibhav Arora also made significant contributions with the ball, taking crucial wickets at regular intervals.

In response, DC struggled to build partnerships as KKR’s bowlers dominated the game. Varun’s early dismissal of Rishabh Pant and Narine’s clever bowling further dented DC’s chances of a comeback. Despite Kuldeep Yadav’s valiant effort with the bat, DC fell short of a competitive total.

Overall, it was a well-rounded performance by KKR, showcasing their strength in both batting and bowling departments. The win propels them to a steady position in the IPL points table, while DC will be looking to bounce back from this defeat in their upcoming matches.
