IPL 2024: SRH vs GT Updated Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap, Most Runs, Most Wickets – Virat Kohli and Harshal Patel Leading

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a dramatic turn of events, the 66th match of the IPL 2024 season between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Gujarat Titans (GT) was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to continuous rain at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on May 16. The points were shared between the two teams, with Pat Cummins-led SRH and Shubman Gill-led GT each receiving one point. This result confirmed SRH’s spot in the playoffs, making them the third team to qualify for the next stage of the tournament.

Prior to the abandoned match, SRH had a chance to finish in the top two of the IPL 2024 points table with wins in their remaining matches. However, the rain playing spoilsport means they now need Rajasthan Royals to lose their last match and for SRH to win their final game to secure a top-two finish.

The updated IPL 2024 points table sees Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the top, followed by Rajasthan Royals in second place. SRH sits in third place with 15 points from 13 matches, with one match ending in a no result. Despite the setback, SRH remains in contention for a top-two finish.

Meanwhile, in the individual player standings, Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) continues to hold the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs in the tournament. Harshal Patel of Punjab Kings (PBKS) retains the Purple Cap for taking the most wickets in IPL 2024. With the playoffs approaching, the race for the top individual honors is heating up alongside the team battles on the field.
