Iran cautions Israel against retaliation as world powers call for restraint

Iran issued a stern warning to Israel and the United States following a mass drone and missile attack on Israeli territory. The attack, launched in retaliation for a suspected Israeli strike on its consulate in Syria, resulted in only modest damage in Israel as most of the missiles were intercepted with the help of the US, Britain, and Jordan.

Despite the limited impact of the attack, tensions remain high in the region, with both Iran and Israel vowing to retaliate if provoked further. Israeli cabinet minister Benny Gantz emphasized that Israel would respond at the right time and in a manner that suits them.

The White House commended Israel for repelling the attack and reiterated that the US does not seek war with Iran. However, Iran’s army chief of staff warned of a much larger response if Israel retaliates, and even threatened to target US bases if they assist Israel.

Global powers and regional neighbors have called for restraint to prevent further escalation of the conflict. The UN Security Council is set to meet to discuss the situation.

Analysts are debating the motives behind Iran’s attack, with some suggesting it was a show of strength to save face domestically. However, the risks of a wider conflict are evident, as demonstrated by Iran’s seizure of an Israel-linked cargo ship and the impact on regional economies.

The situation remains volatile, with the war in Gaza spreading to other fronts with Iran-aligned groups. The international community is closely monitoring the situation, hoping to prevent a full-scale war in the region.
