Iran is anticipated to launch an attack on Israel, according to the latest developments in the Middle East, with the US confirming that the threats are genuine and credible.

The father of Jacob Flickinger, one of the aid workers tragically killed in an air strike in Gaza on 1 April, is calling for an independent investigation into the attack. John Flickinger, grieving the loss of his 33-year-old son, is demanding accountability from Israel for its actions.

Jacob Flickinger, a dual US and Canadian citizen, was part of a relief team with the charity World Central Kitchen, working to provide aid to those in need in Gaza. His father expressed his frustration with the idea of Israel investigating itself, stating, “To ask Israel to investigate itself is like asking the perpetrator to investigate themselves.”

Mr. Flickinger emphasized the need for an independent investigation outside of the Israeli government, highlighting the lack of consequences for such attacks. He pointed out that over 200 humanitarian aid workers have been killed in the conflict, stressing the urgency for accountability.

Describing his son as “very adventurous” and “a devoted friend,” Mr. Flickinger shared Jacob’s passion for the outdoors and his dedication to serving others. Jacob, who had served in the Canadian Armed Forces and been deployed to Afghanistan, joined World Central Kitchen last autumn in Mexico before heading to Gaza.

Despite the risks, Jacob was determined to help those in need, telling his father, “People are starving there, and I think I can help.” Mr. Flickinger recalled his son’s confidence in making a difference, reflecting on Jacob’s commitment to serving others and his desire to have a positive impact on the world.
