Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola signs contract extension after successful first season

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola expressed his pride and happiness after signing a contract extension with the club following a successful first season in charge. The Spanish coach joined the Cherries in June 2023 on a two-year deal and has now committed to the club until the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

“I’m very happy to sign the contract. For me, it is a matter of renewing the confidence from both sides,” said Iraola, who took over from Gary O’Neil last year. Despite a slow start, Bournemouth have achieved their highest ever Premier League points total, currently sitting on 48 points with one game remaining.

“I’m proud that we achieved the points record. We are playing in a difficult competition, with very good opposition. The season started slowly, but I think we improved a lot and are playing in the right way,” added Iraola.

Cherries owner and chairman Bill Foley praised Iraola’s impact on the team, stating, “Andoni has made a huge impact since arriving at the club and we are thrilled to agree to this extension. The players have clearly bought into his footballing philosophy and our supporters have really taken to him. We look forward to continuing to work with him.”

Iraola also thanked the fans for their support throughout the season, acknowledging their role in the team’s success. With plans to continue improving the squad over the summer, the manager is optimistic about the future of Bournemouth in the Premier League.
