Irfan Pathan advocates for two wrist-spinners in India’s T20 World Cup squad, revealing their identities

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has weighed in on the crucial decision facing the Indian team ahead of the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and the USA. With the May 1 deadline for squad announcement looming, Pathan has emphasized the need for a strong bowling attack, suggesting the inclusion of five specialist bowlers and two wrist-spinners in the team.

Pathan believes that having two wrist-spinners, specifically Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav, in the playing XI would provide India with the necessary wicket-taking options. He expressed reservations about including Yuzvendra Chahal in the squad, citing concerns about his fielding abilities.

While acknowledging Jasprit Bumrah as a surefire selection, Pathan highlighted the need for two additional fast bowlers to complement Bumrah in the lineup. He pointed out the challenge India faces in finding the right combination of fast bowlers and suggested leaning towards experienced players.

Former India cricketer K Srikkanth echoed Pathan’s sentiments, expressing doubts about Mohammed Siraj’s consistency and advocating for Avesh Khan’s inclusion based on his performance in the death overs.

On the other hand, former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody backed Siraj, attributing his recent struggles to fatigue and external factors. Moody expressed confidence in Siraj’s ability to deliver in the World Cup based on his past performances for India.
