## World Court Orders Israel to Allow Palestinians Access to Aid Amid Famine Threat
**March 28 (UPI) -** The International Court of Justice has unanimously ordered Israel to ensure Palestinians in Gaza have unhindered access to humanitarian aid and services as famine threatens the region.
### Additional Measures Approved
In response to a genocide case brought over Israel’s treatment of Palestinians during its conflict with Hamas, the World Court approved additional measures to its original order from January. The court emphasized the urgent need for basic services and humanitarian assistance in Gaza.
### Dire Conditions in Gaza
The court’s decision comes as conditions in Gaza continue to deteriorate, with reports of famine and starvation spreading. At least 31 people, including 27 children, have already died from malnutrition and dehydration.
### Israel’s Rejection and International Response
Israel has rejected the court’s order, describing it as a violation of its right to defend itself. However, human rights organizations and the State of Palestine have welcomed the decision, highlighting the critical situation in Gaza.
### Aid Delivery Challenges
The conflict has disrupted the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, leading to a growing need for essential supplies. Countries like the United States are exploring alternative methods, such as airdrops and building a pier for aid delivery.
### Ongoing Dispute Over Aid Distribution
Israel and the United Nations have been at odds over the distribution of humanitarian goods in Gaza. While Israel blames the UN for failing to distribute aid, the UN accuses Israel of obstructing the delivery process.
### International Community’s Response
The court’s ruling has been met with mixed reactions, with human rights advocates praising the decision and urging Israel to comply. The ongoing conflict in Gaza has raised concerns about the worsening humanitarian crisis and the need for immediate action.
