The Israeli army confirmed on Thursday that two Thai hostages who were previously believed to be alive in Gaza were actually killed in the October 7 attack. Their bodies are currently being held in the Palestinian territory.
“We informed the families of two kidnapped Thai citizens, who worked in agriculture in the plantations near Kibbutz Beeri, that they were murdered in the terrorist attack on October 7 and their bodies are being held by Hamas,” said army spokesman Daniel Hagari.
This tragic incident brings the total number of Thai hostages being held in Gaza to six, according to an AFP tally based on Israeli figures. Thailand has approximately 30,000 citizens in Israel, with most of them working in the agricultural sector.
The October 7 attack by Hamas on southern Israel resulted in the deaths of over 1,170 people, predominantly civilians, according to an AFP tally of Israeli official figures. In retaliation, Israel’s military actions have claimed the lives of at least 35,272 people, the majority of whom were civilians, as reported by the health ministry in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip.
This ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas continues to escalate, with devastating consequences for innocent civilians caught in the crossfire. The international community is closely monitoring the situation and calling for a peaceful resolution to end the violence and loss of life.
