In a tragic turn of events, Syria’s defence ministry reported that an Israeli air strike on Wednesday resulted in the death of a young girl and the injury of 10 civilians on the coast. This incident comes amidst escalating tensions in the region, with a war monitor also confirming another raid that killed three pro-Hezbollah fighters.

According to the ministry statement, the Israeli attack targeted a central site and a residential building in Baniyas city in the coastal region. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor reported that the girl was killed and 20 civilians were wounded in the strike. Additionally, three Syrian fighters working with Lebanon’s Hezbollah group were killed in a separate Israeli strike on central Syria.

The Observatory, which has sources inside Syria, stated that the Israeli strike targeted a military site in the eastern countryside of Homs. This latest incident follows a series of Israeli strikes in Syria, with the country rarely commenting on individual attacks but maintaining its stance against Iran’s presence in the region.

The conflict in Syria has been ongoing since 2011, resulting in the deaths of over half a million people and the displacement of millions more. The recent escalation of violence underscores the volatile situation in the region and the ongoing struggle for power and control.
