West Indies cricket fans have reason to be excited as the squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup has been announced, with CWI Lead Selector Dr. The Hon. Desmond Haynes expressing confidence in the team’s ability to bring home the title.

Haynes believes that the squad selected has the potential to replicate the success of the West Indies’ title-winning teams in 2012 and 2016. With preparations for the tournament underway for the past year, Haynes is optimistic about the team’s chances and urged Caribbean fans to support them.

Joining Haynes at the press conference was West Indies Men’s ODI and T20I head coach Daren Sammy, who echoed the sentiment of confidence in the squad. Sammy highlighted the team’s winning potential and emphasized the importance of role definition in a successful T20 outfit.

Two standout names in the 15-man squad are pacer Shamar Joseph and Shimron Hetmyer. Joseph, who made headlines with a stellar performance in Australia, is set to make his T20I debut, while Hetmyer returns to the squad after being left out for the Australia tour.

The West Indies will kick off their campaign against Papua New Guinea on June 2 in Guyana. With a strong squad and high hopes for success, the team is gearing up to make a mark at the upcoming T20 World Cup.
