Kerala’s Jabir MP Shines at Indian Grand Prix Series
Kerala’s international hurdler Jabir MP stole the show at the second leg of the one-day Indian Grand Prix series, showcasing his talent in the absence of several top stars. Jabir topped the men’s 400m hurdles race with an impressive time of 49.94 seconds at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
The 27-year-old athlete surged ahead of his competitors in the final bend of the 400m hurdles group A race, posting a sub-50 seconds time and leaving home favorite Santhosh Kumar T in second place with a time of 50.14 seconds.
This was Jabir’s first race of the season, and he made it count with a stellar performance. Santhosh Kumar also impressed in the 400m flat race, clocking a time of 46.46 seconds to secure the top spot.
In the women’s events, Asian Games medallist R Vithya Ramraj dominated the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.28 seconds. Vithya also clinched victory in the women’s 400m A race with a time of 53.00 seconds, showcasing her versatility on the track.
While many of the country’s top athletes were competing abroad in preparation for the upcoming Paris Olympic Games, Jabir MP and Vithya Ramraj seized the opportunity to shine on the domestic stage. Their outstanding performances at the Indian Grand Prix series have certainly put them in the spotlight as rising stars in Indian athletics.
