Jaishankar and Minister Hashimy Explore Opportunities to Strengthen India-UAE Strategic Partnership

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with visiting UAE Minister Reem Al Hashimy on Tuesday to discuss further steps in their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The meeting, which took place in New Delhi, focused on enhancing cooperation in various sectors such as trade and investment, defence and security, food and energy security, and education.

Jaishankar expressed his delight at meeting with UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy and emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership between India and the UAE. He also highlighted the significance of exchanging perspectives on the regional and global situation to ensure mutual growth and prosperity.

During her official visit to New Delhi, Minister Reem Al Hashimy also met with Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra to review the multi-faceted ties between the two countries. The discussions between the two officials centered around deepening the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and exploring new avenues for collaboration.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, stated that the meeting between Minister Al Hashimy and Foreign Secretary Kwatra covered a wide range of bilateral relations and highlighted the shared commitment to strengthening the partnership between India and the UAE.

India’s cooperation with the UAE has witnessed significant growth over the past nine years, with both countries collaborating in various sectors to enhance their strategic partnership. The cultural and people-to-people ties between India and the UAE have also strengthened, reflecting the deep-rooted relationship between the two nations.

The visit of the UAE Minister comes two months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UAE in February, where he held bilateral talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During his visit, PM Modi also attended the grand inauguration of a Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, underscoring the strong cultural and historical connections between India and the UAE.

The discussions between Minister Jaishankar and Minister Al Hashimy are expected to pave the way for further collaboration and partnership between India and the UAE in various fields. Both countries are committed to enhancing their strategic ties and working together to address regional and global challenges for the mutual benefit of their people.
