Mikaela Hoover and Christopher MacDonald Join Cast of James Gunn’s ‘Superman’

James Gunn is expanding the cast of his upcoming film ‘Superman’ with the addition of Mikaela Hoover and Christopher MacDonald. The duo will join David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane in the DC Studios movie currently in production in Atlanta.

Hoover will be playing the role of Cat Grant, a gossip columnist with eyes for Kent, while MacDonald will portray Ron Troupe, one of the best reporters in the newsroom. The film, set for release on July 11, 2025, will also feature Nicholas Hoult as the villain Lex Luthor.

In addition to the classic Superman supporting characters like Jimmy Olsen, Eve Teschmacher, and Perry White, the movie will also introduce a variety of DC heroes. Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, and María Gabriela de Faría will take on the roles of Mister Terrific, Metamorpho, Hawkgirl, Guy Gardner, and The Engineer, respectively.

Hoover, known for her appearances in Gunn’s previous works like ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘The Suicide Squad,’ as well as Netflix’s ‘Love Hard,’ is no stranger to the superhero genre. MacDonald, on the other hand, is a newcomer to the screen.

With an exciting ensemble cast and a mix of familiar and new characters, ‘Superman’ is shaping up to be a must-watch for fans of the DC universe. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated film.
