Jamie Chadwick made history on Saturday by securing her first pole position in the Indy NXT series at Road America. The British driver, who is in her second campaign in the series, has never won a race before, but she will have a chance to change that on Sunday when the race airs live on Sky Sports Mix at 6.05pm.
Chadwick’s pole position makes her just the third woman to achieve this feat in the Indy NXT series, a feeder series to IndyCar. In May, she also became the first woman to stand on the podium in the series when she finished third at Indianapolis.
The 26-year-old driver expressed her happiness after claiming pole position, stating, “I’m so happy. We struggled a little bit this weekend chasing balance. When [team-mate] Louis [Foster] did the lap he did, I knew we would have a good car.”
Chadwick, who is the UK’s most decorated active female motorsport driver, has been a dominant force in the W Series, winning the championship three times before transitioning to Indy NXT. She is also part of the Williams F1 team’s driver academy and is mentoring their F1 representative Lia Block this season.
In addition to her racing achievements, Chadwick has also launched an initiative to increase female participation in grassroots motorsport by partnering with Daytona Motorsport to provide free karting and mentorship for girls.
Fans can tune in to Sky Sports Mix on Sunday to watch Chadwick’s quest for victory in the Indy NXT race at Road America, followed by the IndyCar race later in the evening.
