Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida speaks to Congress about American uncertainty regarding global responsibilities

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida delivered a powerful address to a joint meeting of Congress on Thursday, emphasizing the importance of the U.S.-Japan alliance at a critical moment in history. Kishida praised the U.S. for its past role in shaping the international order and championing freedom and democracy, but also acknowledged a sense of self-doubt among some Americans about their country’s global role.
