Inspired by his campaign slogan, “We can be better,” Young aims to provide a platform for independent candidates to run for office and offer voters an alternative to the traditional two-party system.
“We’re trying to communicate to people that look, our politics doesn’t have to be as ugly and divisive as it’s become. We’re all on the same team,” Young stated. “Some of us have different ideas for how to achieve our goals, but we’re really all striving for the same goals. And so we want to take that concept of ‘we can be better’ and apply it to the party. It’s the Better Party.”
The Better Party will not only allow Young to run as an independent candidate for Senate but also provide a platform for like-minded individuals who are frustrated with the current political landscape. With 43% of Missouri voters not affiliating with either major party, there is a growing demand for more options in the political arena.
Young hopes to collect the necessary 10,000 signatures to make the ballot by early summer and has already received interest from potential candidates. The Better Party aims to break down barriers for independent candidates seeking ballot access in Missouri and provide voters with a broader range of choices in elections.
