Alyssa Farah Griffin, a co-host on “The View,” bravely shared her own experience with domestic violence in response to a recently surfaced video of Diddy assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. Griffin emphasized the importance of showing compassion towards survivors of physical assault and highlighted the challenges many face in leaving abusive relationships.
In the video, Diddy is seen physically assaulting Ventura in a hotel hallway in 2016. Despite Diddy’s subsequent apology, Griffin criticized the lack of a clear message to young men about not abusing their partners. She also addressed the common question of why abused partners don’t leave, explaining that the dynamics of power and control can make it extremely difficult for them to escape.
Ventura, who faced criticism for staying with Diddy for three years after the abuse, was defended by Griffin, who pointed out the various forms of manipulation and control that abusers use to keep their victims trapped. Griffin also called out others who knew about the abuse but failed to speak up.
While the Los Angeles Police Department cannot hold Diddy accountable due to the statute of limitations, Griffin believes there are still avenues for Ventura to seek justice. The conversation around domestic violence and accountability continues to evolve, with survivors like Griffin speaking out and advocating for change.
