Reading Time: 2 minutes

Jeep is making waves in the electric vehicle market with the unveiling of its first-ever electric vehicle, the upcoming Wagoneer S SUV. The debut of the Wagoneer S comes at a time when Jeep parent company Stellantis and its Big Three rivals, GM and Ford, are reevaluating their strategies for electric vehicles.

The Wagoneer S boasts a sleek design that mirrors the popular Jeep Grand Cherokee, with a lower roofline and aerodynamic shape for improved efficiency. Under the hood, the SUV features two electric drive motors that deliver a powerful 600 horsepower and 617 lb-feet of torque, propelling the vehicle from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. With a 100 kWh battery pack and Jeep-exclusive Selec-Terrain drive modes, the Wagoneer S offers an impressive 300 miles of range on a full charge.

According to Jeep brand CEO Antonio Filosa, the Wagoneer S represents a new era of innovation and design for the brand, combining the iconic Jeep experience with cutting-edge electric technology. The SUV will utilize Stellantis’s STLA Large Platform, allowing for cost-effective production of brand-specific EVs.

While the Big Three and other competitors navigate the evolving EV landscape, Jeep remains committed to expanding its electric vehicle lineup. With strong sales of its plug-in hybrid models, the company sees EVs as the future for many consumers. Jeep plans to release a $25,000 EV in the US soon, further solidifying its position in the electric vehicle market.

The high-spec Launch Edition models of the Wagoneer S will start at $71,995, offering a premium electric SUV experience at a competitive price point. Lower-spec versions of the Wagoneer will also be available, although pricing details have not yet been revealed. Jeep’s foray into the electric vehicle market signals a new chapter for the iconic brand, blending tradition with innovation in the pursuit of sustainable mobility.
