Jessica Chastain Gives a Peek into Her Honorary Doctorate Ceremony at Juilliard

Jessica Chastain, the talented Oscar-winning actress, recently received an honorary doctorate from her alma mater, The Juilliard School, for her outstanding contributions to the fields of film and theatre. The ceremony, which took place at the prestigious school, was a momentous occasion for Chastain, who attended Juilliard from 1999 to 2003 and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

In a video shared by Chastain on social media, she gave viewers a glimpse of the entire ceremony, from receiving her official ceremony ticket to putting on her cap and gown. Despite joking that her head was too big for the doctoral tam, Chastain was all smiles as she posed for photos with the other honorees before receiving her hood and honorary degree.

In addition to being an honorary doctor, Chastain is also a Juilliard graduate, having earned her BFA in 2003. In a 2012 interview, she reflected on her time at the school, describing it as a challenging yet rewarding experience. She also mentioned some of her famous classmates, including Oscar Isaac, with whom she later starred in “Scenes from a Marriage.”

The ceremony was attended by other honorary degree recipients, including dancer Carolyn Adams, members of the Emerson String Quartet, and composer and conductor Tania Leon. Chastain’s famous friends, including Julianne Hough and Tatum O’Neal, congratulated her on her academic achievement, showing their support and admiration for the accomplished actress.
