JKPL’s Bookmobile presents a complimentary summer reading program | Lifestyle

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library’s Bookmobile is gearing up to kick off its summer reading program with the theme “Adventures Begin at Your Library” on Wednesday, July 10, 2023. The Bookmobile is calling on the Saipan community to join in the fun and embark on a literary journey filled with excitement and learning.

From infants to adults, the Bookmobile aims to cater to all age groups and encourage them to set reading goals and continue their education during the summer break. The free summer reading program will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at various locations, including the Tanapag Youth Center, Carolinian Utt/Pavilion, Kagman Community Center, and the Fernando M. Benavente Memorial Library in San Antonio.

Registration for the summer reading program will be open from May 14 to 31, 2024, during library hours. Interested participants must have a valid library card with no outstanding fines to secure a spot in the program. The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library has been offering free summer reading programs to the CNMI community for over two decades, emphasizing the importance of literacy and continuous learning.

This year’s theme, “Adventures Begin at Your Library,” aims to spark curiosity and imagination among readers of all ages. By participating in the program, individuals will have the opportunity to engage in various activities, programs, and explore a wide range of books. Prizes and connections with fellow book lovers await those who join the adventure at the library.

As a member of the Collaborative Summer Library Program, JKPL collaborates with community donors, sponsors, and agencies to promote literacy during the summer months. Research has shown that students who do not engage in reading or educational activities during the summer may experience a decline in academic skills. The summer reading program serves as a preventive measure against the “summer slide” and encourages children to maintain their learning progress.

Parents and adults are also encouraged to participate in the program as children who see their role models reading are more likely to develop healthy reading habits. To access the library’s free resources, individuals can visit the official website at www.cnmilib.org and follow JKPL on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and YouTube.

For more information about the summer reading program and registration details, interested individuals can contact JKPL at (670) 235-7322/7315. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to embark on a literary adventure and make the most of your summer at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library’s Bookmobile.
