Johns and Chaudry Win Patriot League Doubles Team of the Year, Puryear Honored as Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year

The Navy women’s tennis team is making waves with their recent accomplishments, as senior Samantha Johns and sophomore Sia Chaudry were named the 2024 Patriot League Doubles Team of the Year. Head coach Keith Puryear also received recognition as the league’s Coach of the Year.

Having secured the program’s first Patriot League Championship and earning a spot in the upcoming NCAA Tournament, the Midshipmen have proven their dominance on the court. Johns and junior Emily Tannenbaum were selected to the All-Patriot League First Team, while Chaudry received a nod to the All-Patriot League Second Team.

Johns and Chaudry made history as the first pairing in program history to claim the Patriot League Doubles Team of the Year award. Their impressive 15-10 overall record included a 10-5 mark at the No. 1 spot during the spring season. The duo’s success was instrumental in the team’s journey to the Patriot League title.

Coach Puryear, with his second Patriot League Coach of the Year award, has led the team to new heights with a 298-100 record in 15 years at Navy. The team’s remarkable achievements include a 21-1 home record, victories over ranked opponents, and individual records being shattered.

The Navy women’s tennis team’s stellar performance has earned them a spot in the NCAA Tournament, where they will face off against No. 4 North Carolina in the first round.
