May is Asian American/Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and Indie 102.3 is celebrating by highlighting Asian artists from various genres. From Grammy award-winning Anderson .Paak to British gen-z rocker beabadoobee, there is a diverse range of talent to discover.

Anderson .Paak, a Korean-American artist from Oxnard, California, is known for his soulful music and impressive rap skills. On the other hand, beabadoobee, a Filipino-English artist, brings a nostalgic 90s vibe to her rock tracks, which you can enjoy on Indie 102.3’s Live Sessions.

Best Coast, an American rock duo with Chinese-American guitarist Bobb Bruno, and psychedelic funk project Kainalu, rooted in Japanese Hawaiian heritage, are also featured artists this month. Additionally, M.I.A., Mitski, Raveena, Silk Sonic, Superorganism, Toro y Moi, and TOKiMONSTA are part of the lineup, showcasing the diversity and talent within the AAPI community.

TOKiMONSTA’s story is particularly inspiring, as she overcame two brain surgeries for Moyamoya disease in 2015, relearning language and music skills to continue producing and performing. Her resilience and dedication to her craft are truly remarkable.

To listen to more AAPI artists, tune in to Indie 102.3 all month long and check out their Spotify playlist. Celebrate Asian American/Pacific Islander Heritage Month by supporting and enjoying the music of these talented artists.
