Seattle Times Education Lab Hosts Live Conversation on Future of Education

Seattle’s Franklin High School will be hosting a live conversation on Thursday, May 2, focusing on key issues shaping the future of education. The event, titled “The Future is in Our Hands,” will kick off at 7 p.m. and cover topics such as artificial intelligence, apprenticeships, student engagement, youth activism, and diversity in the educator workforce.

The program, organized by the Seattle Times Education Lab, is free and open to community members of all ages. However, RSVPs are requested and can be done at st.news/edlabfuture.

The event will feature discussions led by Washington educators, students, and Seattle Times education reporters. Presenters include Hugo C. Garcia Sanchez from Chief Sealth International High School, Chetan Soni and Mahi Malladi from Washington Youth Alliance, Tiffanie Rivera-Di Lucio from the Martinez Fellowship Program, Dan Effland and Jess Barco from Summit Atlas High School, and Tory Gering and Tony Adams from the Core Plus Maritime program.

Attendees can expect lightning talks on each topic, breakout discussions, a chat with Ed Lab staff, and a reception with light refreshments. The event will take place at Franklin High School, located at 3013 South Mount Baker Boulevard, with accessible transportation options available.
