Nikola Jokic Wins NBA MVP for Third Time in Four Seasons

In a stunning display of talent and consistency, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets has been named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for the third time in the past four seasons. The Serbian star averaged 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game, making him the only player to rank in the NBA’s top 10 in all three categories this season.

Jokic received 79 of a possible 99 first-place votes from the panel of reporters and broadcasters who cast ballots on awards at the end of the regular season. Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander came in second, followed by Dallas’ Luka Doncic in third place. This marks the third consecutive season that three players born outside the U.S. finished 1-2-3 in the MVP balloting.

With Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo coming in fourth, this became the first time in the award’s history that international players swept the top four spots in the voting. Jokic now joins an elite group of players who have won the MVP award at least three times, including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell, and Michael Jordan.

Jokic’s rise to superstardom from being the 41st overall pick in the 2014 draft is a testament to his hard work and dedication. His Hall of Fame resume at just 29 years old solidifies his place among the all-time greats in NBA history. Congratulations to Nikola Jokic on another well-deserved MVP win.
