Jon Bon Jovi, the iconic singer-songwriter and guitarist, recently revealed that he wasn’t initially impressed with one of his band’s biggest hits, ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’. In a candid interview, Bon Jovi shared that when the song was first written, he didn’t see its full potential.

“It wasn’t that I didn’t want to record it, but I wasn’t all that impressed on the day that we wrote it,” said Bon Jovi. However, as the band worked on the song and added elements like the bass line, it transformed into the chart-topping hit that fans know and love today.

‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ was written by Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, and songwriter Desmond Child, and was featured on the group’s 1986 album Slippery When Wet. Despite Bon Jovi’s initial reservations, the song went on to become one of the band’s biggest hits, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

This revelation comes as part of a new documentary series about Bon Jovi’s life, titled ‘Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story’. The series delves into the creation of ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ and other hits that the band initially underestimated, like ‘Always’ from the Cross Road album.

After reflecting on their career in the documentary, Bon Jovi and the band are set to release a new album, Forever, on July 7. Fans can look forward to more music from the legendary rock group as they continue to defy expectations and create timeless hits.
