In a thrilling matchup on Friday night, the Cincinnati Reds took on the Los Angeles Dodgers in a high-scoring affair. The Reds emerged victorious with a 9-6 win, thanks in large part to a grand slam by Jonathan India in the fifth inning.
The game was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams putting up runs early on. Spencer Steer also contributed to the Reds’ offensive outburst with a three-run homer. Stuart Fairchild made his mark on the game as well, hitting a home run and making a spectacular leaping catch in center field to rob the Dodgers of a potential home run.
Despite being outhit by the Dodgers, the Reds capitalized on walks and hit by pitches to set up their big innings. India, who had been in a slump, broke out with three hits including the grand slam that put the Reds ahead for good.
On the pitching side, Reds starter Graham Ashcraft battled through 5 1/3 innings, allowing five runs but doing enough to keep his team in the game. The Dodgers’ James Paxton struggled, giving up five earned runs in just 4 2/3 innings.
The game had its share of drama, with both teams trading blows until the Reds ultimately came out on top. With the win, the Reds look to carry their momentum into the next game against the Dodgers, with Hunter Greene set to take the mound for Cincinnati.
