The NBA dropped a bombshell on Wednesday, announcing the ban of Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter for his involvement in illegal gambling activities. The league accused Porter of betting on games, sharing insider information with gamblers, and even faking illness to influence wagers.

Standing at 6-foot-10, Porter, a former University of Missouri standout, has had a mixed career in the NBA, spending time in the G League before making his mark with the Raptors this season. Despite his limited playing time, Porter managed to average 4.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver did not mince words in his statement, emphasizing the importance of upholding the integrity of the game. He described Porter’s actions as “blatant violations” that warranted severe punishment.
