‘Judge Judy’ Sheindlin files defamation lawsuit against National Enquirer and InTouch Weekly – NBC New York

Judge Judy Sheindlin is taking legal action against the parent company of the National Enquirer and InTouch Weekly for publishing a false story about her involvement in the Menendez brothers’ case. The story, titled “Inside Judge Judy’s Quest to Save the Menendez Brothers Nearly 35 Years After Their Parents’ Murder,” alleged that Sheindlin was trying to help the convicted murderers get a retrial.

Sheindlin, known for her no-nonsense approach on television, vehemently denied any involvement in the case and stated that the news outlets fabricated the story for financial gain. The lawsuit, filed in Florida, accuses the publications of misattributing statements from a juror in a Fox Nation docuseries to Sheindlin.

Accelerate360 Media, the parent company of the National Enquirer, has not yet responded to the lawsuit. Sheindlin made it clear that she is seeking damages for the false story, emphasizing that the cost will be significant to deter future fabrications.

This is not the first time Sheindlin has faced false claims from tabloids. In 2017, the National Enquirer issued a retraction and apology for spreading misinformation about her health and personal life.

Sheindlin, who recently ended her long-running show “Judge Judy” and now hosts “Judy Justice,” is known for her integrity and no-nonsense attitude. The lawsuit against the tabloids highlights her commitment to protecting her reputation and holding media outlets accountable for spreading false information.
