Jyothi and Verma advance to compound mixed team final at Archery World Cup 2024, Indian team aims for four gold medals

Indian archers Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Abhishek Verma have secured a spot in the final of the Archery World Cup in Shanghai, guaranteeing India’s fourth medal in the competition. The dynamic duo defeated their Mexican opponents in the semifinals with a score of 155-151, dropping just five points throughout the match.

Jyothi, who is also a member of the women’s compound team that qualified for the final earlier in the week, has been on fire in the individual section as well, reaching the semifinals and putting herself in contention for a hat-trick of top podium finishes. Indian archers have been dominating in the team events, with four finals appearances and two medals in the compound individual events.

The Indian pair started strong in the competition, receiving an opening round bye and producing a flawless 160 out of 160 in their first match against Australia. They continued their winning streak by defeating the Luxembourg team in the quarterfinals before clinching their spot in the final with a solid performance in the semifinals.

Despite starting on the back foot in the semifinals, Jyothi and Verma managed to turn the tables on their opponents and secure the victory with a perfect score in the final end. The duo will now face a lower-ranked Estonian team in the final on Saturday, aiming to add another medal to India’s tally in the prestigious competition.
