K-Tourism Roadshows Make Waves in the US

The Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO) is ramping up efforts to attract more visitors from the United States with massive promotional campaigns and K-Tourism roadshows in key cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. The recent roadshow in New York on April 23rd, 2024, at the prestigious Cipriani 42nd location was a success, drawing over 300 attendees, including tour operators and agencies specializing in various travel themes.

US visitor numbers to Korea have been on the rise, surpassing pre-pandemic figures from 2019. The KTO aims to capitalize on this trend by strengthening ties with American travel industry players. The event featured a Travel Mart where American travel firms met with Korean tour operators, including well-known names like Korean Air and Asiana Airlines.

Notable awards were given to Majestic Vacations/GTT and Remote Lands for their outstanding efforts in promoting Korean travel goods with a focus on K-culture. The event also showcased performances by guitarist Lee Byung-woo and energetic K-Pop dancers, adding to the excitement of the evening.

Next up, the Busan Tourist Organization and the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Office of Culture and Tourism will lead promotional events in Los Angeles on April 25th, 2024. Former Major League Baseball player Park Chan-ho will participate in a chat program to encourage Korean travel, highlighting the diverse attractions of Busan and Gyeongbuk.
